What does a long arm machine do?
A long arm quilting machine holds all three layers of a quilt tightly on a rolling frame.
With a regular sewing machine, you have to push the fabric through by hand. But with a long arm machine, the fabric stays completely still. Instead, the machine itself moves smoothly over the quilt.
This makes it easy to sew perfect stitches from one edge to the other, even on huge king-size quilts!
People use these machines in two different ways: they can move the machine by hand to draw their own creative designs, or they can hook it up to a computer to sew perfect, automatic patterns.
What is the difference between the HQ Moxie and the HQ Amara?
The HQ Moxie is Handi Quilter’s entry-level longarm machine, available in 15″ and 18″ throat sizes. It features built-in stitch regulation and up to 2,100 stitches per minute on the 18″ XL model, and is designed for ease of use and creative freedom.
The HQ Amara is Handi Quilter’s mid-to-professional range, available in 20″ and 24″ throat sizes. The Amara delivers a larger horizontal throat space, smoother stitching performance, and is fully Pro-Stitcher ready — making it the preferred choice for studio quilters and anyone who quilts frequently or works with larger quilt sizes.

Yes. Sewing Machine Warehouse provides service and repairs for Handi Quilter longarm machines at both of our Texas showrooms in Cypress (Houston area) and Conroe.
Our skilled machinists handle in-warranty repairs, out-of-warranty service, and annual tune-ups.
