Autumn Pines was designed by Judy and Brad Niemeyer in 2017 as a 46″ x 46″ modified wedding ring ring design with feathered accents surrounded by a pieced border. It is a great introduction to Judy’s strip pieced technique for wedding ring arcs. Join Jan Mathews, a Certified Instructor for Judy Niemeyer Quilting / Quiltworx.com, in a small class setting at Sewing and Vacuum Warehouse in Houston, Texas (its State Highway 249 location). Gather ‘round the Harvest Table where everyone is welcome! At Kimberbell’s one-day machine embroidery event, you will create up to six seasonal projects for your autumn celebrations. First, you will stitch a Harvest Linen Table Runner with pumpkins, acorns, and lovely leaves of Applique Glitter, then make four coordinating Napkin Rings in a single hooping! You will receive Kimberblanks, designs, and sentiments to create four Linen Napkins. You will stitch the acorn napkin while at the event, then go home with the maple leaf, oak leaf, and pumpkin appliques to stitch later!

Join Certified Instructor, Jan Mathews for a fun and exciting Technique of the Month featuring Judy Niemeyer’s Coral Reef! The Coral Reef TOM has got to be the easiest design to assemble of all Judy Niemeyer’s patterns to date. If you are new to paper piecing, Judy Niemeyer’s patterns are a great introduction – they are engineered to work no matter your skill set (fairly new to quilting or a “multiple decade” quilter). If you are a confident beginner you can make this exceptional quilt top. If you are a veteran quilter, you will definitely appreciate the “little things” Judy has included in the assembly process for Coral Reef. This class is a seven session class with between class time to sew and prep for the next class. By working between classes, you will be in a great position to complete a final quilt top on the last day of class. As a long-time educator with children and in higher education, she specializes in classes that are inspiring and educational while meeting the needs of each individual learner and skill level. With over 35 years in the art of quilting making, her classes provide beginner to advanced students with new and exciting skills in a positive and supportive atmosphere. , machine piecing, machine applique, paper piecing, and the Accuquilt system. She has developed two Textile Ministries, taught classes and one on one lessons in quilt making and has her own Custom Quilt and Longarm Quilting business. The quilt classes you experience at the Sewing and Vacuum Warehouse will provide beginner to advanced students with new and exciting skills in a positive and supportive atmosphere! This beginner class will put a monochromatic filter on traditional Texas elements. “Hey Y'all” will be your result! Cacti, florals like bluebonnets and sunflowers, spurs and silhouettes of the Lone Star State bring these fabrics from Alli K Designs to life. Students may also select their own color pallet and fabrics, if they choose. This is a one-day beginner class that takes place from 10:30-5:00.
