Kathy Tucker is an expert quilter and a Laura Heine Certified Instructor and Certified Longarm Quilter. As a long-time educator with children and in higher education, she specializes in classes that are inspiring and educational while meeting the needs of each individual learner and skill level. With over 35 years in the art of quilting making, her classes provide beginner to advanced students with new and exciting skills in a positive and supportive atmosphere.
Learn to quilt with rulers on your very own tabletop sewing machine. Using a muslin sandwich and quilting rulers, students will learn ruler work quilting designs that they can transfer to their own project. What To Bring: Supply lists will be given at time of registration.

What To Bring:
Do not buy supplies yet. Bring a notebook or 3 ring binder with paper for notes and to add samples to. There will be a lecture and a discussion on shopping for supplies & tools, with a special video produced by Carol Ann. It is of 7 quilters in Houston and how they have set up their quilting spaces, we will see some of their quilts and favorite tools. One lady has a set up a quilting business in in her garage, one in her dining room and one even set up in an assisted living facility!

Sewing Machine + BSS, Rotary cutter, rulers & mat. If you do not have a sewing machine or are from out of town, let us know before the class; We will set one up gratis. Bring 1 yard of scrap fabric, a regular 12” ruler, measuring tape, along with sheets of lined notebook paper and a 3 ring binder. (Sewing)
BSS = BASIC SEWING SUPPLIES
Sewing Machine with it’s feet, a 1/4” foot, pedal, power source & manual, sharp scissors, pins, needles, thread, bobbins, regular and quilting acrylic rulers, rotary cutter & mat, tape measure, safety pins, scrap fabric, etc. (optional: travel iron and small ironing pad, water, sack lunch). Eye glasses if you need them.
Warning: Never leave your mats or rulers in a hot cart! They will will warp!

Dull scissors and blades no more! Bring your scissors, pinking shears, and rotary blades and get them sharpened by The Scissor Guy! Put your items in a bag with your name on it and drop it off it off at the store. Please make sure you drop off your items the day before to ensure they get sharpened. Sewing Machine + BSS, 20-27 inches of fabric to make binding. If you need to make this for a quilt, bring in the quilting fabric and your quilt.
